Nightscape' is a term I use to describe my approach in this project which deals with lighting at night spatially and dynamically, rather than just considering lighting and space as separate entities traditional night landscapes generally do.

Nightscape is a process that use lighting as its main medium to formulate various spatial outcomes and offer diverse experience at night. My research is conducted in terms of two transformations of lighting, external and internal conditions. They interact to change the space that accommodates different circulation and activities. The distinctiveness of conditions directly or indirectly determines the unique night effect for each site. The two transformations could be elaborated from three aspects: edge, axis and quality to illustrate nightscape on my site. 'Edge' is utilized as shape, 'axis' as framework and 'quality' as content to formulate nightscape. Based on them, 10 scenarios have been created to test my idea and demonstrated spatial quality. Therefore in this research, Nightscape is a process that used lighting as main medium to create space to organize and improve the quality of night space to enhance people's experience at night.
